End of season thriller

Randers FC played their last home game of the season with a 3-2 win over Vejle, making relegation a certainty for their valiant opponents.
6000 sun-drenched spectators watched the game, which turned out to be a 5 goal thriller even though both teams started nervously.
League topscorer Marc Nygaard returned after injury along with Kenneth Møller Pedersen, and it only took Nygaard 12 minutes to convert a pass from Bédi Buval into a goal.
The visitors gained confidence, coming close no less than six times during a period of intense pressure lasting about ten minutes.
After the break, it was also Vejle who made the best impression, earning a goal on the 57th minute to draw equal at 1-1.
Both teams moved up a gear - relegation-threatened Vejle had to win and high-riding Randers FC wanted to win, and after 65 minutes, Søren Berg left four defenders standing before cracking the ball against the upright. Issah Ahmed came close with a header from the resulting corner.
In the 82nd minute and with time running out, Bédi Buval missed probably the easiest chance of the season after wrong-footing the Vejle defence and rounding keeper Jimmy Nielsen before miskicking the ball in front of an open goal.
Only a minute later, Bedal was back and this time not in the mood to do anything foolish, heading the ball cleanly home from Tiago Targino's cross.
And just one more minute later, the ball was in the net again when Søren Berg dribbled his way down the middle and past the keeper.
Vejle were not prepared to give up and pulled one back just a minute before full time, but too late to spoil a well-deserved victory for the home team after an exciting duel.
The next and final fixture of this season is away against Danish champions FC København next week!

Olsen extends contract with Randers FC

20 year-old midfield profile Ricki Olsen has really made his mark in his debut season in the SAS League at Randers FC, and has now extended his contract by 2½ years to 31 December 2011.

After signing the new contract, Olsen said:
"I am delighted that the contract extension worked out. Now I know where my immediate future lies and luckily for me, that's with Randers FC. I think I've done really well during my time here - better than I even expected myself and perhaps better then the club expected. I look forward immensely to another 2½ years of success here".

 Randers FC's Trainer John Faxe commented on the contract extension:
"It suits me fine that the club and Ricki Olsen reached agreement on extending his contract. During the spring season, Ricki has really shown his class via a series of good performances in the SAS League. And given his youth, he can go on to develop even further with Randers FC".

Ricki Olsen joined Randers FC from Brøndby IF one year ago, and has succeeded in securing himself a regular first team place - especially in the spring campaign of the 2008/2009 SAS League season - with a tally of four goals.

New signing

Brønshøj Boldklub's top scorer in the 2nd Division East with a haul to date of 16 goals, Danni König, joins Randers FC on a 1 year contract from 1 July. The 22 year-old looks forward to stepping up to the big time:
"This is a dream come true. I've always wanted to play at the top of Danish football and am certain that Randers FC is the right club for me," says the youngster, who has netted 50 times in 120 first team games.

Randers FC Trainer John Faxe sees lots of potential in the young striker:
"Danni is a player still at the start of his career, who has proved his instinct for scoring at Brønshøj. He's fast and a good finisher which makes him fit the profile we were looking for."

Home game goodbye to Stig Tøfting

One of the profiles of Danish football in the 90s and into the 00s, Stig Tøfting has only been with Randers FC for 3½ years, yet has become something of a club legend in that time. Stig participated in well over 100 games for the club as player and Assistant Trainer, helping them achieve promotion to the SAS League, win the Danish Cup and take the club to its current position of fifth in the league. The match against Vejle was Stig's final home game before moving on to pastures new, and the crowd saluted him befittingly.

And the same for two players

Sunday's game against Vejle also meant goodbye to two players - Jan Frederiksen has opted to continue his career with Brøndby IF from next season after 71 matches and 1 goal. 22 year-old Kian Christensen only managed three first team games in his 1½ years as a full-time professional, but has nevertheless earned a big thank you and the club's best wishes for his future.
