NEWS SUMMARY WEEK 5
Hectic last-minute transfer activity In line with most other clubs, the January transfer window has largely passed without any major sales or acquisitions by Randers FC - until yesterday. Morten Karlsen, FC Nordsjælland's midfield dynamo has signed a 6 month contract.
Randers FC trainer Ove Christensen said of his new signing: "Morten is a highly experienced player and a specialist in the central midfield. He will be able to knit our game together and his tactical expertise means he knows when to defend and when to attack. I think it would have been hard to find a better player after the departure of Kenneth Møller Pedersen".
Karslen started his career at B93 where he played 8 junior internationals for Denmark before moving to Dutch club FC Zwolle in 2002 and returning to Denmark to play for FC Nordsjælland in 2004, for whom he played 145 first team matches.
Home-grown talent stays on Talented young goalkeeper Peter Friis Jensen has extended his contract to 30 June 2010 and aims to give established keepers Kevin Stuhr Ellegaard and Nathan Coe competition for a place in the SAS League team.
Pre-season warm-up matches underway The first of 6 pre-season warm-up matches kicked off in Esbjerg against Aab on Tuesday 26 January, and was an evenly-balanced affair. Aab ran off with the honours though, after a 1-0 win with a fantastic goal from Daniel Christensen.
Oppostion for the next match - in Randers - was provided by FC Midtjylland, and a return to goalscoring form by Marc Nygaard meant that he netted twice in a 2-2 draw. Good news for the team in the run-up to the spring season when every goal will count.
